North Arbor Treez is Dave

Not a franchise, not a call centre, not a rotating crew of subcontractors. When you ring, you get the person who will quote the job and then do it — 25+ years into doing exactly that across Auckland’s North Shore, Rodney and West Auckland.

Honest advice on what your tree actually needs

What 25 years actually buys you

Tree work is not complicated to describe and it is very easy to get wrong. The difference between a good job and an expensive problem is almost always judgement: where to make the cut, how the wood is loaded, what the tree will do in response, and whether the thing you have been asked to do is the thing that should be done.

That judgement is the only thing experience really gives you, and it is not visible on a quote. What you see instead is a tree that seals its wounds and holds its shape instead of throwing out weak regrowth, a removal that comes down without touching the glasshouse, and a section that is genuinely finished when the truck leaves.

Straight answers, including the unprofitable ones

Plenty of people ring wanting a tree removed when what they need is a reduction, and a few ring wanting a trim on something that should honestly come out. You will get told which one you are, even when the honest answer is the smaller invoice.

The same applies to topping. It is still the most commonly requested job in this trade and it is the fastest way to ruin a tree — so if that is what you ask for, you will get a recommendation and a reason rather than a yes.

Why every quote happens on site

Two identical trees can differ by a factor of three in price, and it is almost never about the tree. It is about whether a truck can get near it, whether there is a drop zone or every piece has to be lowered on a rope, what is underneath, and how far the material has to be carried to reach the chipper.

None of that can be judged from a photo, which is why the quote is free, in person, and there is no obligation attached to it.

Leaving it tidy

Full clean-up is part of every job, not an upsell. Branch material is chipped on site, trunk wood is removed, and the ground is raked off. If you would rather keep the mulch for your garden beds or the rounds for firewood, that costs less than carting it away and plenty of people want it — just say so at the quote.

How it works

What happens when you ring

  1. Ring Dave

One call, straight to the person doing the work. Tell him roughly what you have and where you are.

  2. Free on-site look

He comes and stands under the tree. Access, drop zones and what is underneath are what set the price — none of that can be judged from a photo.

  3. A clear quote

What is being done, how, and what it costs. No obligation, no pressure, and an honest answer if the job you asked for is not the job you need.

  4. Done and cleaned up

Work carried out safely, all debris removed, and the site raked off. Mulch and firewood left behind if you want it.
