Arborist in Greenhithe
Greenhithe is the leafiest part of the North Shore — large sections, heavy native canopy, and properties running down to the upper Waitematā. It is also where kauri turn up on private land more often than anywhere else on the Shore, which changes how the work is done.

Honest advice on what your tree actually needs
Kauri and soil hygiene
Kauri dieback moves in soil, and the main way it travels between properties is on boots, tools and machinery. Anyone working across multiple bush sections in a week has to be cleaning gear between sites and keeping machinery off kauri root zones, or they are part of the problem.
Work on kauri themselves should be conservative. They do not tolerate heavy pruning, and disturbance around the root zone matters more than with most species. If there is kauri on your property, mention it when you call so it is planned for rather than discovered.
Large sections, large trees
Greenhithe sections are big enough to hold genuinely large specimens — tōtara, kahikatea, pūriri, rimu, mature pines and macrocarpa on the older blocks. Removals here are usually possible with real drop zones and truck access, which makes big work more economic than it would be in town.
The flip side is that when something this size fails, it fails significantly, and the storm work out here is correspondingly serious.
Ecological overlays
A lot of Greenhithe vegetation sits inside Significant Ecological Areas, and there are riparian margins along the harbour edge and the creek systems. Clearing weed species is generally fine and worthwhile; removing native canopy generally needs checking first on Auckland Council's GeoMaps.

Questions
Greenhithe — common questions
I have kauri on my property. What should I be aware of?
Kauri dieback spreads through soil movement, so gear hygiene between properties matters, and machinery should stay off the root zone. Kauri also do not take heavy pruning well — a light, targeted approach is almost always the right one. Tell us it is there when you book.
Can you remove a very large native tree?
Physically, usually yes. Legally, it depends — Significant Ecological Area overlays, riparian margins and notable tree schedules are common through Greenhithe, so the first step is checking what applies to your address.
