Arborist in Browns Bay
Browns Bay is the centre of the East Coast Bays and shares their pattern: sections sloping towards the sea, salt on everything, mature garden trees from the mid-century subdivisions, and townhouse infill filling in the gaps.

Honest advice on what your tree actually needs
Coastal exposure and one-sided trees
Anything within a few streets of the beach is dealing with salt-laden easterlies. Foliage burns on the exposed face, the canopy pushes inland, and over years the whole tree develops a lean and a weight bias it was never designed to carry.
Correcting that is a matter of reducing the heavy sheltered side to rebalance the tree, not trimming the sparse seaward face. Done properly the tree stops looking lopsided and stops loading its root plate in one direction.
Sloping sections and drop zones
Most Browns Bay sections fall away towards the water, which changes how a removal is planned. Cut material runs downhill, and the fall zone is not where it would be on flat ground. On the steeper streets everything gets lowered on rigging rather than dropped.
It also means retaining walls, terraced gardens and steps are usually somewhere in the drop zone, and those are what the method is designed around.
Hedges and screening between neighbours
With infill development, screening has become the main reason people call. Griselinia, photinia and pittosporum hedging goes in fast, gets tall fast, and then needs holding at a height everyone can live with. Getting it on a regular cycle costs a fraction of a rescue reduction every four years.

Questions
Browns Bay — common questions
My tree is burnt and lopsided from the sea wind. Can it be fixed?
Largely, yes. The fix is reducing the heavy sheltered side to rebalance the canopy rather than cutting at the damaged face. It will not regrow into the wind, but it will stop getting worse and it will look considerably better.
Do you do regular hedge maintenance in Browns Bay?
Yes. Most hedges here want two trims a year to stay in shape. Being on a cycle is much cheaper than a rescue job every few years.
